Today's Public Health Scotland Covid infection rate data as Glasgow becomes worst affected council area

A further 215 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Scotland overnight — including four in Ayrshire.

Public Health Scotland said the national figure is lower than expected due to "data flow issues" from UK Government testing sites between 8pm on May 13 and 9am this morning.

Health chiefs say this issue has been resolved and the missing data will be reported tomorrow.

A further two coronavirus deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours bringing Scotland's death toll from the virus to 7,664.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Glasgow City now has the highest infection rate in the country – at 80.4 as of Thursday, May 13.

The second-highest is Moray which has a rate of 68.9 while East Renfrewshire (52.3) has the third-highest rate.

Locally, South Ayrshire's infection rate stands at 22.2, East Ayrshire's at 23.8 and North Ayrshire's at 26.0.

Currently, 24 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 30.0.
