A further 1,498 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours with the disease claiming another 10 lives.
Figures published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland today show there are 356 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals and 42 people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation.
The new fatalities mean Scotland's Covid death toll now stands at 8,013.
However, 10,421 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to August 8.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, East Lothian has the highest rate in the country — at 253.9 as of Tuesday, August 10.
North Ayrshire has the second-highest infection rate at 220.5 while North Lanarkshire is third with 219.0.
Of Ayrshire's remaining two local authorities, East Ayrshire's rate is 146.4 and South Ayrshire's is 132.9.
A total of 121 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the region in the last 24 hours. Broken down, 53 were in North Ayrshire, 35 in South Ayrshire and 33 in East Ayrshire.

There are 15 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – up one from yesterday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,034,420 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,375,524 have received a second dose.
