Today's highlights

Sorry for the delay in posting today's newsblog update: I've been marvelling over the pictures of the sacked Tory arts spokesman Boris Johnson in something I can only describe as the piratical surfer look (see Ros Taylor's post below for more). We're also writing a fresh story that contains Johnson's denial that he misled Michael Howard.

The equally colourful George Galloway is taking his libel battle with the Telegraph to the high court today: that story is being covered for us by MediaGuardian.co.uk. In world news, we'll be updating our Iraq special report with the latest developments in Falluja and we're hoping to speak to foreign correspondent Rory McCarthy for an audio report.

Guardian Unlimited graphics guru Paddy Allen is working on an all-singing, all-dancing interactive guide to London's 2012 Olympic bid, which has been submitted today, and we're rooting out some archive articles on the original recording of Do They Know It's Christmas?

Finally, I am planning a Newsblog post about Podcasting: what it is and what you can do with it. Stay tuned.
