Today's Covid cases Scotland: 25 new deaths reported as 1,327 new cases identified

Coronavirus cases continue to soar in Scotland, with 1,327 new infections reported in the last 24 hours.

The new cases represent 8.7 per cent of all of the tests carried out for Covid-19 yesterday.

105 of the new cases are in NHS Lothian, while 428 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 274 in Lanarkshire and 97 in Ayrshire and Arran.

Meanwhile, there are now 1,100 patients being treated for the virus in Scottish hospitals, which is an increase of 12 on Monday. 82 patients are in intensive care units.

25 new deaths were reported death, taking the number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 2,701 amongst those who had confirmed coronavirus.

It comes as the Scottish Government is gearing up to debate the new strategic framework at Holyrood today (27 October).

Nicola Sturgeon is due to speak around 3.20pm in the Scottish Parliament.

Edinburgh Live have pulled together a full list of every proposed tier in the new Scottish five-level lockdown system and what it means here.

Ministers will then decide later in the week what level will initially apply in which parts of the country, with Edinburgh set to enter tier three.
