Today's coronavirus update for Scotland: 41 more deaths and further 771 positive cases

41 more people in Scotland have sadly lost their lives on account of coronavirus.

Today's statistics also show a further 771 positive covid-19 cases have been recorded, taking the overall total to 90,081.

Of the 771 new cases, 247 have been registered in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, with 156 in Lanarkshire.

1,197 people are currently in hospital with covid in Scotland, with 84 in intensive care.

Furthermore, Nicola Sturgeon has announced in the Scottish Parliament Glasgow will remain in tier 4 in terms of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions, as was expected.

The Scottish Government this afternoon confirmed:

  • 771 new cases of COVID-19 reported
  • 41 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
  • 84 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 1,197 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 11,316 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results – 8.6% of these were positive
