US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice is meeting the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, today following her discussions with the Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon, yesterday. Can she give tomorrow's peace talks between the two sides a bit of momentum? We'll have the latest and an audio report from Chris McGreal, our man on the spot.

In Britain, the home secretary, Charles Clarke, is announcing the latest measures to tighten Britain's asylum and immigration rules this afternoon, while the Tory leader Michael Howard is unveiling his party's plans to keep offenders in prison for longer. We'll be following both pre-election announcements.

Matthew Wells, meanwhile, will be filing a dispatch from the Puerto Rican town that has grown rich from the manufacturing of Viagra. Ros Taylor will be examining the changing norms of male grooming, now a survey has found that one in three men use moisturiser.
