We'll be watching the Queen's speech to see if it contains anything unexpected. Like last year, most of its content has been heavily trailed – see our interactive or Alan Travis's article – but we're always hoping for surprises.

Things are less predictable in Ukraine, where thousands are today still out in the streets, protesting about its extremely dubious election, which was condemned by international observers. We'll be following the demonstrations and speaking to our man on the scene, Nick Paton Walsh.

In Afghanistan, the three UN hostages have been freed after almost a month in captivity, and our Middle East editor, Brian Whitaker, will be writing about the chance of progress in Syrian Lebanese relations in our world dispatch section.
