Tochinoshin suffers 4th consecutive defeat

Tochinoshin, who regained the rank of ozeki after the May tournament, was pushed out by No. 3 maegashira Daieisho (2-2) at the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament on Wednesday, marking his fourth consecutive loss from the opening day.

Yokozuna Hakuho secured his fourth win by forcing out komusubi Ryuden (2-2). Fellow yokozuna Kakuryu also extended his winning streak to four, expelling komusubi Abi (1-3).

The winner of the previous summer tournament, No. 1 maegashira Asanoyama (1-3), was tossed out by ozeki Takayasu (3-1). Fellow ozeki Goeido (2-2) was slapped down by No. 1 maegashira Hokutofuji (1-3).

Sekiwake Mitakeumi earned his third win against No. 3 maegashira Shodai (2-2), while fellow sekiwake Tamawashi suffered his fourth loss, forced out by No. 2 maegashira Endo (2-2).
