Toby Carvery warns customers about fake Facebook pages scamming people for payment details

Toby Carvery has warned its customers about fake Facebook pages scamming people for payment details and contact information.

A spokesperson on the restaurant chain's Facebook page said: "Unfortunately, there continues to be an upsurge in fake Facebook pages being created with the core aim of collecting contact and payment details from people.

"At Toby, we have not escaped and at present there is a page attempting to impersonate this Facebook page so please be super vigilant.

"Please note, we have taken the necessary steps and reported this page (and any others) for violating Facebook's Community Standards. However, sometimes these pages stay active for longer than they should so please be cautious".

BirminghamLive reports the fake page has since been removed but comments claim the fake page was asking people to comment and like for a free meal.

People rushed to the comments to say how they kept seeing the fake page being shared.

One person said: "I see these pages being shared so much. It doesn't take a lot to realise they're scammers or fake but people just see a good deal and don't care, or don't think. Or both".

Another said: "Been seeing this for weeks now!!! Easy to spot they have UK after the name and if you go on their FB page there’s only a couple of pictures."
