Toby Carvery's new rules ahead of reopening indoors on May 17

The great British Sunday roast is a long-standing tradition up and down the country.

Toby Carvery is a family favourite - offering diners the chance to pile their plates high with their favourite elements of the classic roast dinner.

While pubs and restaurants in England haven't been able to open their doors to customers since November for indoor trade, the popular carvery chain has been offering an outdoor service since the country made its second step of the roadmap out of lockdown.

As of May 17, hospitality businesses will be able to fling open their doors for indoor service - but things will look very different at Toby Carvery.

Government rules around pubs reopening for indoor areas state that customers must remain seated in the pub, and will not be able to order food or drinks at the bar.

Toby Carvery told BirminghamLive that, in line with Government guidelines, their restaurants will be table service only.

This means that customers' food will be plated by staff and sent to their tables.

While one of the best parts of the carvery experience is queuing up and piling your plate with extras of the bits you love (think ladling extra gravy, an extra scoop of mash) - Toby Carvery bosses say customers will still be able to customise their plates when they order.

Rules for pubs reopening indoors on May 17

  • All guests will be required to either scan the NHS Test and Trace app or share details with a host when visiting
  • Face coverings to be worn and social distancing to be adhered to by guests when moving around the restaurant

Toby Carvery has also announced on its Facebook page that it will extend any gift cards that expired between March 20 2020 and now to September 25 2021.
