Toby Alderweireld is a target for a number of clubs this summer transfer window, including Manchester United.
The Belgium international has been at Tottenham since 2015, but has attracted attention from Europe's elite in this time.
Manchester United have previously been linked with the centre-back but have always found themselves priced out of a deal for the Belgian.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is known to drive a hard bargain, and has quoted the Red Devils astronomical fees for the talented centre-back.
But this summer things could be out of Levy's hands, should Alderweireld decide he wants to leave Spurs for a new challenge.
Whether he still considers Man United to be the right club for him remains to be seen, but a clause in his contract, that reportedly comes into play this summer, can be triggered by anyone.
The Sun report that the clause enables clubs to buy the centre-back for just £25m.
The clause can only be triggered within a two-week window, but this is more than enough time for an interested club.
Tottenham take on Liverpool in the Champions League final this weekend.
Ahead of the match, Alderweireld said: "There's a lot to play for this season. And in the end, I have a year contract left at Spurs, so I don't look further than this season.
"Other things I don't know. I am very happy at Spurs, so we will see what the future brings. I still feel very fit. I think I played a lot of minutes this season so I showed that I am fit – I don't feel 30, I feel younger."
