It hasn't been a good few weeks for Spurs after a run of one win from five games over the festive period.
Missing the chance to leapfrog Chelsea and jump into the top four prior to Christmas following a 2-0 defeat in N17, Jose Mourinho's men have also dropped points against Norwich City and Southampton.
It's imperative that the Lilywhites get back to winning ways soon as a few more poor results and they will face an almighty battle to clinch a place in the Champions League come May.
Toby Alderweireld, who has since committed his long-term future to the club since Mourinho's arrival in November, believes that the team are lacking a bit of confidence at present but they can still achieve their man targets if they can fix a couple of things and get back on track
"We started well with Jose and of course, results haven't gone our way in the last couple of games, but we have to work hard at these things," he told the club's matchday programme.
"It's progress and a project that we have to consider. These things do take time.
"We lack a little bit of confidence as well. If a result goes our way, we will make the steps that we need to take to go forward. In some moments, if it goes a little bit more our way, then the confidence will come even more.
"At the moment, we are a little bit in the corner. For example, if you look at the second goal we conceded against Norwich. At that moment in the game, we were in a good period, we were putting them under pressure and only one team was going to win but then you concede an own goal like that and it changes the momentum. It’s all about those moments.
"We know that we just have to work hard and the positives will come, but we also have to search for our own luck.
"We will work hard to improve, that is the key thing. It is very cliche and basic but that it is. Football ls about little details.
"We still see ourselves in a position where we can achieve anything that we want but we have to be positive, as a positive mindset will change a lot."
