Tobi Adebayo-Rowling explains Adam Chicksen and Aaron Nemane influence on recent Notts County form

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling has revealed the form of Adam Chicksen and Aaron Nemane has had an influence on his recent performances as he eyes a place in the Notts County starting line-up.

It has been a difficult start to his Magpies career, starting just once in the National League this season following his move from Ebbsfleet, failing to nail down a regular spot in Luke Williams' side.

But the 25-year-old has impressed in recent weeks, coming off the bench in Notts' fixtures against Maidstone and Wealdstone in recent weeks, whilst also impressing in their FA Cup exit to Coalville Town earlier this month.

At the start of the season, Adebayo-Rowling failed to make the matchday squad for the first four games of the campaign, making his first appearance in the Magpies' 4-1 win over Halifax Town at the end of August.

When asked about his absence from the squad in the early weeks of the season, Williams revealed that the defender needed to work on a few things to convince him he was ready to be involved on a matchday.

And Adebayo-Rowling believes he has achieved the fundamentals he worked on with the Notts boss at the start of the campaign.

"When I had a discussion with him, he was very tactical in terms of my positioning, my intensity and being in the right position at the right time.

"It is difficult for me to explain but it was about where he wanted me to be, the runs I would be making and how quick I would do that as well.

"Another thing he worked on me with was my body shape. So defensively if a ball is going over the top, it was focusing on my body shape and fixing that, and I was able to achieve that."

The form of the two full-backs this season has been nothing short of sensational, with Nemane and Chicksen becoming increasingly involved when the Magpies attack, with the Zimbabwean already hitting a career best of five goals this campaign.

And Adebayo-Rowling explained that he is continuing to work hard to try and get break into the matchday squad when the opportunity arrives, further adding that he is still learning from just watching from the side-lines.

"Yeah, 100%. I think everyone in each position within the squad would agree that when the other player in your position is doing well, it makes you want to well.

"The standard is so high, so you need to be right behind them if you want to get anywhere near the team.

"Those two are pushing me. Even watching them from the side-line and what they do is helping me."
