"To the man we wave to through the window" - East Lothian grandad gets lovely note from local kids

An East Lothian grandad had a lovely surprise today (27 March) when he had a lovely note and care package full of treats left at his door, left by people who wanted to make sure he was ok during the current coronavirus lockdown.

The note read:

"To the man we wave to through the window!

"We were really lucky to receive extra food so thought we'd make you a wee bag of treats! Hope you are keeping well!

"Lindsay, Louie, Ellis and Rosie."

William (88) from Tranent had been feeling really low due to being confined to the house due to the coronavirus lockdown, and his granddaughter Chloe said the unexpected gift and sweet note "really cheered him up."

She said the care package included "cold meat, pasta, cheese, biscuits, cakes and sweets" and that the note had really made his day.

Age Scotland have put together a useful list of ways you can support older people during this difficult time.

One of the suggestions is simply to "show you care."

They say: "Why not make homemade cards (a great project to do with the kids), send a postcard, even post small gifts to keep people’s spirits up or just write a good old-fashioned letter to an older friend or relative?

"Why not get creative with it? Share any pictures or videos of what you’re up to by tagging our Instagram or Twitter accounts."

As you can see, it's a great idea and definitely brightened William's day!
