
Shipments of carnations are in full swing in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture, on Wednesday, as Mother's Day approaches on May 13. Workers at the Japan Agricultural Cooperatives' local workshop were busy checking for insects, and cutting and boxing the flowers. Growth was slow due to bad weather in October and cold winter temperatures, but warm days from March accelerated the flowers' blossoming.
