To do this weekend: WingFest, half-price seafood

Sept. 02--Celebrate the wonder of chicken wings, and save a few bucks on seafood before your Labor Day barbecue:

DO MORE!

If your feathers are ruffled over not scoring a ticket to February's sold-out WingFest, you're in luck: For the first time, organizers of the massive chicken-wing tasting party are throwing Summer WingFest, complete with an outdoor area to pack in even more food, drinks and ticket holders. Restaurants offering up their wings include The Fifty/50, The Butcher's Tap, Mahoney's Pub Grille and Reggie's; you'll also find live blues music, a street market and -- never fear -- plenty of beer. Saturday, Sept. 5, 1-7 p.m., The Bailey Auditorium, 1340 W. Washington St., wingfest.net

SPEND LESS!

Your Labor Day party just got classier. Throw some primo shrimp on the grill with the help of a cash-saving special at sustainable seafood shop Wixter Market, which specializes in super-frozen (a process in which the fish is frozen to minus 76 degrees on the boat the day it's caught, preserving its quality and taste) fish and shellfish. Through Sept. 6, shoppers who buy a 1- or 2-pound bag of jumbo shrimp will score a second bag (of equal or lesser value) for half the price. You'll also get a shrimp recipe from Embeya chef Michael Sheerin, who's not sharing with anyone but Wixter customers. 2110 W. Division St., 312-248-2800, wixtermarket.com
