To do this weekend: Fried chicken, Champagne and beer

Aug. 19--Two food and drink events will keep you busy the weekend of Aug. 20-22, 2015:

DO MORE!

There are few better marriages than fried food and sparkling wine. Try for yourself at Kendall College Trust's Fried Chicken and Champagne Fest. There, chefs from Parachute, Parson's Chicken Fish, Leghorn and more will serve their best crispy-skinned bird paired with a selection of bubbly from River North bar Pops for Champagne. Organized by Catherine De Orio, the host of "Check, Please!" on WTTW and the executive director of KCT, the event will aid the Kendall College Trust in granting scholarship money to students interested in culinary and hospitality careers. Get ready for one clucking good time! Aug. 22, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Basic tickets $75; VIP $150. Must be at least 21 to attend. Kendall College's Skyline Room, 900 N. North Branch St.

SPEND LESS!

A bar that stretches 402 feet and boasts 40 taps is popping up in Logan Square courtesy of Deschutes Brewery, visiting Chicago from its hometown of Bend, Ore. The Street Pub event (free; beer tickets $5) will feature Deschutes brews including Fresh Squeezed IPA, India Red Ale, Mirror Pond Pale Ale and many others; also enjoy live music and cooking demonstrations from chefs Matt Kerney of Longman Eagle, Charlie Eure of Revolution Brewing and Jeff Usinowicz of Deschutes. Aug 22, 2-10 p.m. 2291 N. Milwaukee. Ave., 541-385-8606.
