If sailing around the seas of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced won't be enough for you, Ubisoft's placed some actual hidden treasure in the Caribbean. Buried artifacts worth a lovely $500,000 are up for grabs, for anyone who fancies trying to solve a few clues as to their exact whereabouts, and you can participate from the comfort of your own home.
Known as the Gold and Crystal treasure hunt, this expedition involves solving 15 puzzles, delivered through letters and other documents, all related to Resynced, to triangulate where this chest of capitalistic wonder has been left. To help, you'll get a map of the Caribbean and a cryptic message in a bottle.
Don't worry about traveling, because this part can be done from anywhere. The first player, then, who registers that they've actually found the X that marks the spot will be flown out to the Gulf of Mexico to uncover the spoils for themselves.
What awaits them? Only a reference to the worst Indiana Jones movie! Nah, it's a replica of the crystal skull from Black Flag itself, and some Assassin's Creed emblazoned gold coins.
Completing this quest is expected to take between two and five years, according to the press release, and you can register interest now at the official site. Entries cost £35, presumably to cover shipping the relevant materials to whomever wants them, and it all kicks off on November 9, 2026.
I'll be sticking to my controller because I get seasick, but I wish all who participate happy travels. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced brings a huge change to combat and I kind of love it
