TNT thankfully doing away with painful ‘Players Only’ NBA broadcasts, per report

TNT does so many great things with its NBA coverage, leading with the incredible pre- and post-game Inside the NBA shows, as Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson have repeatedly shown everyone in sports how it’s done.

One thing TNT hasn’t done well, however, is the “Players Only” broadcasts in which only ex-players are calling the games. Having to listen to someone like Hall of Famers Isiah Thomas or Kevin McHale try to lead a broadcast of a game can be downright painful.

Skilled play-by-play announcers are absolutely necessary because they do such a great job of smoothly moving the broadcast along.

Well, it looks like the “Players Only” games will no longer exist:

Oh please, please, please let this report be true. Because those “Players Only” broadcasts need to go away forever.
