The owner of a building which houses a school of the Telangana Minorities Residential Education Institutions Society (TMREIS) filed a petition in the High Court over unpaid dues.
Speaking to The Hindu, Abid Rasool Khan, a managing trustee of Abid Rasool Khan Charitable and Educational Trust, said that he moved the HC recently as TMREIS has not paid him dues. The TMREIS Pargi Boys-1 School, in Gangupally village, Manneguda, operates from the building.
“I filed a writ petition only after sending reminders for rent. A legal notice was sent in February through my advocate to the Principal Secretary, Vikarabad District Collector, Secretary of TMREIS and others. The rent was negotiated then and renegotiated at ₹ 9 per sft but they have not paid the rental dues in full. In May 2020, proceedings from TMREIS were issued in connection with some payment, and an amount that was paid as security deposit was adjusted. In other cases, security deposits are adjusted only when entire rental dues are paid,” Mr. Khan said.
In the interim prayer, the petitioner has sought that TMREIS immediately release an amount of ₹32,83,803 as rentals for the period of October 1, 2020 to March 2020.
Meanwhile, a source said that monthly rentals for some other properties from which certain TMREIS schools run have not been paid to property owners. While information about the exact number of such properties remained unavailable, the unpaid dues are for several months.
