TK Maxx car park fire in Ayr was deliberate say police investigating Monday's blaze

Police say a fire within an Ayr multi storey car park last night was started deliberately.

Thick black smoke was seen billowing across the the town at around 7.40pm as the blaze tore through the facility owned by TK Maxx.

Now cops have confirmed they are investigating.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.40pm on Monday, 31 August, police were called to the River Street area of Ayr following a report of a car on fire within a car park.

"Enquiries have established that the fire was wilful and officers are investigating."

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they extinguished the fire after receiving a call out at 7.39pm.
