TJ Reid says it was an honour to bring joy to TV viewers during lockdown after Kilkenny's Championship exit

Kilkenny ace TJ Reid has vowed that the Cats will bounce back from Saturday's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Waterford and come back stronger in 2021.

Reid scored 1-14 with his first half goal helping Brian Cody's side into a dominant position at half-time. But the Deise stormed back after the break and secured a famous win behind-closed-doors at Croke Park.

Reid, 33, took to social media to congratulate Waterford and reflect on a challenging year.

He tweeted: "We will pick ourselves up and dust ourselves down. 2020 will be a year to remember for sure.

"A year of struggle but it was a honour to line out for Kilkenny and bring some joy to so many homes around the country. Well done to Waterford it will be some final."

Reid's fiance Niamh de Brun revealed she was 'devastated' for Kilkenny after the result.

In an emotional tweet, she described the work and time Reid and team-mates had put into this Covid-disrupted inter-county season.

Taking to Twitter, she said: "Devastated for Kilkenny. When you see the work, emotion, time that they give and what it means to them - forever proud of my TJ."
