Liverpool have been handed a new lease of life in the Premier League title race after Manchester City dropped points on Saturday evening.
After 12 straight victories, City had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Mary's.
It did move them 12 points clear of second-placed Liverpool, who next play on Sunday against Crystal Palace, where a win would cut the gap to nine points.
Jurgen Klopp's side would also have a game in hand on City.
And if they could win that, the gap between first and second could be six points.
And with the rivals still to play each other again this season - what could be the biggest match of the season is scheduled to take place at the Etihad on April 9 - Liverpool fans have been taking to social media to declare that the race for the Premier League is far from over.
City boss Guardiola said after the draw with Southampton: “I would like to have a 40-point lead ahead of Liverpool.
"But that is not possible in January. I didn’t expect to have this lead (12 points).
"But now we will rest and come back as best as possible.”
