Titans WR Tajae Sharpe had a curious stat in 2018

The wide receiver position will be among the most interesting to watch play out both ahead of and during the 2019 season for the Tennessee Titans.

Newly signed Adam Humphries and rising star Corey Davis are expected to be the most effective, with the likes of Taywan Taylor, Darius Jennings, Cameron Batson and Tajae Sharpe all competing to make an impact behind them.

There’s a curious statistic to look into for the latter.

Sharpe totaled 26 receptions on the 2018 season. Of this total, 22 catches resulted in first downs.

ESPN’s Turron Davenport took to Twitter to make note of this on Friday morning.

In 2018, Sharpe was targeted 47 times by quarterback Marcus Mariota. He turned 26 of those into receptions for a total of 316 yards, averaging 12.2 yards per catch. He also had two touchdowns.

On a two-year NFL career, Sharpe has recorded 67 receptions for 838 yards, averaging 12.5 yards per catch, with four scores.

It will be interesting to see just how productive he is in moving the chains this season.
