Titans will retire jersey numbers of Eddie George, Steve McNair

The Tennessee Titans are retiring former quarterback Steve McNair’s No. 9, and former running back Eddie George’s No. 27 jersey number.

The team held a ceremony at St. Thomas Sports Park after Wednesday’s practice, and took to Twitter with the news.

Former players of the franchise Jim Norton (No. 43), Elvin Bethea (No. 65), Earl Campbell (No. 34), Mike Munchak (No. 63), Bruce Matthews (No. 74) and Warren Moon (No. 1) have all had their numbers retired as well.

According to Titans Radio’s Mike Keith, these are the 152nd and 153rd numbers to be retired in league history.

The numbers will be officially retired during the Titans’ home opener against the Colts on Sept. 15.
