Titans’ Will Levis regrets how he handled DeAndre Hopkins exchange

Following a heated sideline exchange with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in Week 13, Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis wishes he had done things a bit differently.

The exchange occurred in the first quarter of the loss to the Indianapolis Colts and came after the pair had a miscommunication on a deep ball that ultimately fell incomplete.

Levis appeared to be yelling at Hopkins on the field, and then he was fairly animated while talking things over with his No. 1 wideout when they got to the sideline.

On Wednesday, the rookie quarterback showed maturity in admitting he wishes he had been less animated when talking to his teammate.

“Maybe I forgot I was on T.V.,” Levis joked, according to Jim Wyatt. “Just one of those things that just happened. If I would’ve gone back, I would’ve been more neutral about it, for sure. But that’s just part of the things about being an NFL quarterback and learning along the way of how to be a leader and how to get your guys going. Definitely would’ve handled it differently if I would’ve done it again.”

There’s nothing wrong with holding a teammate accountable, as Levis tried to do with Hopkins on Sunday.

However, he’s right in saying it’s wise to be a bit more calm about it, as the last thing Levis wants to do is show up his teammate, especially one with the resume of Hopkins. Doing that will only create issues.

Thankfully, Hopkins said the situation wasn’t a big deal and he loves the passion the rookie signal-caller plays with, so it’s all water under the bridge.
