Titans will host 4th annual regional spelling bee

Football may be over in Nashville for now, aside from the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, but that isn’t the only upcoming event.

The Tennessee Titans are set to host the the fourth annual Tennessee Titans Regional Spelling Bee at Nissan Stadium in the West Club on Saturday. Doors will open at 11 a.m. CT, with the competition beginning at noon.

A total of 49 qualifying students from local elementary and middle schools will take part in the regional competition. The top two spellers will be awarded with an an all-expense paid trip to the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. this May.

Over 128 schools in 26 different counties across Tennessee are registered to participate in the 2018 bee program.

The Titans play a unique role in the academic event, becoming the first professional sports franchise in 2015 to not only serve as a sponsor, but host a regional spelling bee.

Without the help of sponsors like the two-toned blue, students would have no way to go on to compete the national level.
