A win over the Houston Texans on the road was the easiest route to the postseason for the Tennessee Titans heading into Sunday afternoon’s matchup.
And they took it.
The Titans finished with a 9-7 overall record for the fourth season in a row as they topped the Texans, 35-14 in NRG Stadium.
It was a particularly dominant performance for the offense, as running back Derrick Henry took the NFL rushing title from Nick Chubb.
Henry recorded 211 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Houston, and finishes out the regular season with 1,540 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
AJ Brown also shined, ending off the game as the leading receiver between both squads with four receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill remained the steady force he has been at the helm, completing of 13-of-20 passes for 198 yards and a pair of scores.
With the win, the Titans lock up the No. 6 seed in the AFC, and will face the New England Patriots in Foxborough next weekend in the wild-card round.
If they’re able to get past Tom Brady and the team, the Titans will face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round.
It won’t be an easy task against such a well-coached team under Bill Belichick that’s out for redemption after an embarrassing 27-24 loss to the lowly Miami Dolphins, but the Titans don’t lack star power going into it.
