Titans wide receiver Adam Humphries draws comparison to Julian Edelman

There’s a lot to be excited about with the Tennessee Titans’ recent acquisition of wide receiver Adam Humphries.

Humphries will function as an effective slot receiver and provide help in third-down situations. He’s also coming off a career year, reeling in 76 receptions for 816 yards and five touchdowns in 2018.

He’s also drawn some comparisons to some of the league’s successful pass-catchers, most recently New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman.

Titans team reporter Jim Wyatt noted the similarity in his Saturday mailbag post.

“I do think Humphries is going to be Edelman-like,” he wrote. “Check out his highlights if you haven’t yet – he’s a baller. He catches a lot of short to mid-range passes, and turns them into bigger gains. He takes some big hits and keeps on truckin’.”

The signing of Humphries is an important one as Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota enters a pivotal season on the final year of his rookie deal.

In order for Mariota to receive a fair evaluation, it’s imperative the Titans fix issues within the offensive line and surround him with capable weapons, and it’s clear general manager Jon Robinson is off to a good start this offseason.

It will be be interesting to see which moves he makes next as the 2019 NFL Draft approaches.
