Outside linebacker Vic Beasley’s on-going absence from Tennessee Titans training camp is getting quite expensive.
It was thought that perhaps Beasley hadn’t reported because he planned on opting out of the 2020 season, which would have saved him from the mandatory fines he is currently facing for his failure to report.
However, Beasley did not opt out before the deadline on Thursday, thus he will have to face the music and will be losing quite a bit of dough.
According to Paul Kuharsky, as of Thursday Beasley has accrued $500,000 in fines, which is $50,000 per day for the 10 days he has been a no-show.
Per Jason Fitzgerald of Over the Cap, not only is Beasley facing that amount in fines, he’s also looking at the possibility that the Titans can recoup some of his signing bonus.
At this point, Tennessee can get back a little over $1 million of his $6 million signing bonus, although unlike the fines, that is not mandatory.
While not mandatory, if this is as ugly as it looks from the outside looking in, you can bet your bottom dollar that Tennessee is going to at least look into getting back some of that money.
