Titans’ updated 2024 NFL draft position after loss to Bucs

With another loss on Sunday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tennessee Titans’ playoff hopes were dealt another devastating blow and it has fans and media alike turning their attention to Tennessee’s 2024 NFL draft spot.

At 3-6, the Titans are sitting in last place in the AFC South and 15th in the conference. According to the New York Times playoff simulator, Tennessee sports a THREE percent chance to make the postseason.

As things stand now, the Titans hold the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, per Tankathon. That’s two spots higher than where Tennessee was after last week’s loss.

Here’s a look at the situation in front of them:

Tie-breakers are based on strength of schedule (SOS), thus the Titans could fall to No. 9 if the Denver Broncos lose to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Unfortunately, neither the No. 8 nor No. 9 picks are likely to net the Titans either one of the top left tackles in Olu Fashanu or Joe Alt, or the top wide receiver in Marvin Harrison Jr.

However, there’s also plenty of opportunity to move up in the weeks ahead, assuming the Titans don’t right the ship in some form or fashion. There’s certainly a realistic scenario where the Titans can get into the top five to select one of the aforementioned players.
