Titans TE Delanie Walker unsure if he will open training camp on PUP list

Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been making a steady recovery from his 2018 leg injury sustained in Week 1, but he’s still not at full capacity.

So, where exactly does his health stand ahead of training camp, which begins later this month?

According to Walker, who spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Jenny Vrentas, says he “doesn’t know” if he’ll open on the PUP list or not.

“I’ll leave that up to the coaches,” he said.

He also reflected on the process of his recovery in the piece.

“Just stepping on the field, running routes and doing drills, that was the biggest [hurdle],” he said. “I had only been running for two weeks, and being able to run routes against guys, and beating them.”

Walker was not able to actively participate in June’s minicamp, and based on his comments, it appears Walker may not be ready to go full force when training camp kicks off.

The pass-catcher didn’t say he’d be on the PUP list, but it certainly is a reasonable possibility.

“We have great coaches and training staff,” he said. “They’re probably not going to let me hit the ground running like I want to, but I look forward to getting into my groove.”

There are mere weeks until the Titans host the first day of training camp, so we should expect to know more about Walker’s status as that date nears.

The first day of practice will be held at St. Thomas Sports Park on July 26, with rookies, quarterbacks and injured players required to report on July 22.

Veterans will report on July 25.
