Quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s inability to find himself on an NFL roster has undoubtedly been a polarizing event in sports.
Some believe his NFL unemployment is to blame on his protests while he was in the league, while others see it coming down to simply a lack of talent and efficiency.
Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker – formerly a teammate of Kaepernick’s – was asked about the signal-caller’s situation on Tuesday.
Walker is of the opinion that Kaepernick could go to a number of different NFL team and be a more viable option than other names currently on the roster.
“Yeah it surprises me,” Walker said, per FanSided. “I feel like the guy is a starting quarterback in this league. He could go to any team and probably start over half the guys who are playing quarterback or be a great backup. It’s a little surprising that he hasn’t had that opportunity but sometimes you can look at it and understand what the problem is. A lot of people don’t address so at the end of the day, it is what it is.”
Kaepernick became a free agent in 2016, spending his last NFL season with the San Francisco 49ers. The only NFL opportunity he’s gotten since then was a 2018 visit with the Seattle Seahawks, but nothing came of it.
It will be interesting to see if Kaepernick ever gets a chance to return to the league and prove himself at the helm of a team again.
