The COVID-19 pandemic has changed sports — and the world — as we know it for the foreseeable future.
It’s a huge adjustment for people across all professions, including athletes. The effects of the virus spare no one, from the average person to the nation’s most well-known public figures.
NFL teams like the Tennessee Titans are holding OTAs on Zoom, the same platform many universities across the country are using to hold classes for the rest of the semester.
That doesn’t mean players are any more or less excited about meetings — and you can count left tackle Taylor Lewan in that.
“Just excited to see the boys,” he said, via Paul Kusharsky. “I’m dying for a little bit of social but you can’t rush these things.”
Of course, we don’t exactly know what the football season will look like, and there’s even been some speculation that it’ll be pushed back or won’t happen at all.
For as much doubt as there is, though, there’s an equal amount of optimism that the NFL will find a way to make it work.
“Terrified of being heard in an empty stadium,” Lewan said on Midday180. “Do we even do intros?”
Coronavirus is still far from being totally under control as the nation looks to re-open the economy, but it’ll be interesting to see just how much progress is made between now and the start of the NFL season.
