Titans’ Taylor Lewan makes PFF’s list of top 25 OTs

In a list ranking the top 25 offensive tackles in the NFL going into 2020, Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan landed outside the top 10.

Lewan came in at No. 12 on the list, which was compiled by Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash, who ranked eight other left tackles ahead of Lewan.

Lewan has been the model of consistency throughout his six-year career. His season pass-block grades have ranged from 78.6 to 85.3, forming a career pass-block that ranks 16th among 119 qualifying tackles. This past year, in particular, he allowed one or no pressures in 75% of his regular-season games, which was the second-highest rate among tackles. Lewan was a pivotal piece to Derrick Henry’s rushing title, as he had the seventh-best run-block grade (including postseason) at the position.

While this is a solid ranking, Lewan should be higher.

His overall PFF grade of 80.2 was the 11th-best among all tackles in the NFL last season, and it was better than four of the left tackles ranked ahead of him. Lewan’s run-blocking grade was tops among left tackles, also.

Since 2016, Lewan is one of only two tackles in the sport to post top-10 PFF grades in both pass protection and run-blocking, which hammers home Treash’s point about being the model of consistency.
