Titans stand pat as NFL trade deadline passes

After rumors and speculation had the Tennessee Titans possibly being sellers at the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 31, it came and went without the team making any moves.

So, the extent of Tennessee’s action was the trade of Kevin Byard, who was dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles last week in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round pick, a 2024 sixth-round pick and safety Terrell Edmunds.

An offer for Titans fans

During a season in which it’s unlikely the Titans will make much noise, the team would’ve benefitted from moving players in order to secure more picks for the future.

However, it appears general manager Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel are either content with their situation or simply didn’t receive the kinds of offers that would make them move.

Some Titans most speculated about as far as trades were concerned were Derrick Henry, Denico Autry, Ryan Tannehill, DeAndre Hopkins and Kristian Fulton.

Of those five players, only Hopkins is under contract next year, which means the Titans run the risk of losing the other four with nothing to show for it, although I think there’s a good chance Henry and Autry are brought back, depending on their asking price and the length of the contract.

With the deadline behind us, we can now fully shift our focus to the final 10 games of the season and the Titans’ attempt to climb out of the early hole they dug — and it’s a hole that will be easier to climb out of now that Tennessee hasn’t gutted its roster.
