Titans’ small rookie class fared mostly well in 2018

The Tennessee Titans 2018 rookie class was a small one, consisting of just four players. This was largely due to the trades made by GM Jon Robinson.

But the combination of linebacker Rashaan Evans, linebacker Harold Landry, safety Dane Cruikshank all flashed serious potential last season. Sixth-round quarterback selection Luke Falk didn’t last long, however, as he was ultimately released by the team on Sept. 1, 2018.

The Dolphins claimed him off waivers, but did not give him any playing time for the Dolphins during his rookie season.

Evans was picked the earliest of the group at No. 22 overall. Though he missed training camp and the preseason due to an injury, Evans still finished his rookie year as an impact player on the team’s defense.

He saw action in 15 games, recording a total of seven starts. He racked up 53 tackles, two for a loss, a quarterback hit and a pass defensed.

Taken in the second round at No. 41 overall, pass rusher Harold Landry had some exciting moments in his first season in Tennessee. He saw the field in 15 games, entering three as a part of the starting lineup.

Landry accounted for 44 tackles, five for a loss, 4.5 sacks, 14 quarterback hits, two passes defensed and a forced fumble.

Fifth-round, No. 152 overall selection Cruikshank made a name for himself particularly on special teams. His biggest play of the year came in the form of a 66-yard touchdown reception from safety Kevin Byard on a fake punt against the Texans in Week 2.

The effort gave the Titans the momentum swing they needed to record their first win of the season.

Cruikshank played in 12 games, recording 11 tackles and one for a loss.

The Titans will hope for an even more successful group as they prepare to make their six selections in the 2019 NFL Draft.
