Titans rookie WR A.J. Brown records historic performance vs. Browns

The Tennessee Titans laid all the hype surrounding the Cleveland Browns to rest on opening day, leaving FirstEnergy Stadium with a 43-13 win.

In what was an overall dominant performance by the Titans, one player on the team recorded a particularly historical performance.

Rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown hauled in three catches in Sunday’s win for a total of 100 yards. This marks the first time a Titans player has recorded 100 receiving yards in his first career game since Sid Banks did it on Sept. 12, 1964.

Brown, the first year receiver out of Ole Miss, was taken in the second round by the Titans in the 2019 draft. He was considered by many to be a first-round talent, but the Titans found high value in the second round when they drafted Brown at No. 51 overall.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of Brown’s rookie season plays out, but as of now he is on the right track to become a legitimate receiving option for quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The Titans play their first game at home Sunday against the divisional rival Indianapolis Colts, giving Brown the opportunity to put on a show in Nashville.

Expect him to continue emerging as the season progresses.
