Titans rookie mini-camp: When will Jeffery Simmons see action?

There’s no clear timetable as to when Tennessee Titans first-round pick Jeffery Simmons will be back at full capacity.

While the defensive end has been present at the team’s facility and has been pictured in photos with the rest of the Titans’ 2019 draft class recently, he did not take part in the preparation at St. Thomas Sports Park on Saturday.

Simmons is still in the process of recovering from a torn ACL he sustained back in February, but has still been taking part in off-the-field activities and focusing on getting healthy according to head coach Mike Vrabel.

“He can’t do much on the field,” Vrabel told reporters. “But he’s doing a lot of rehab and he’s lifting and he’s engaged in the meetings. When he’s ready, we’ll get him out there.”

Simmons’ former defensive coordinator Bob Shoop from Mississippi State was in attendance, and took some time to chat with Simmons.

The Titans certainly aren’t rushing the rehab process, and want to make sure Simmons is at 100 percent before he takes an NFL field for the first time.

“Whenever he is ready we’ll get him out there,” Vrabel said, “and we just have to make sure that mentally and physically he’s ready to go.”

As offseason work continues, trainers should be able to get a better feel for just how much longer Simmons has to go before he can get into the lineup.
