Titans release statement after canceling Thursday’s practice

The Tennessee Titans are following the lead of other NFL teams and will cancel their practice on Thursday in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Titans beat writers revealed the news around the same time practice was set to begin at 10:50 a.m. CT.

The Titans released a brief statement after the announcement, per Erik Bacharach of the Tennessean.

“After conversations this morning, the team has decided to cancel today’s practice. Zoom interviews with Vrabel and players will happen at time later today and a new link will be distributed.”

This comes after several other teams around the league have canceled their practices, and NBA teams are considering a boycott of the playoffs, as calls for justice and racial equality continue after the shooting of Blake.

Various video clips shared by beat writers show Titans players walking into the team’s bubble. Head coach Mike Vrabel and others are still scheduled to speak to the media later in the day, so we should know more then.

The Titans are one of eight NFL teams to cancel practice on Thursday.

They are joined by the Washington Football Team, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Green Bay Packers.
