Titans RB Derrick Henry’s 2020 franchise tag salary revealed

After the Tennessee Titans placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Derrick Henry on Monday, we now know what he will be making if he plays the season out on it.

According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, a non-exclusive franchise tagged running back will make $10.278 million in 2020.

The non-exclusive franchise tag allows Henry to receive offers from other teams, however if the Titans refuse to match an offer they would receive two first-round picks from the team that signs the Alabama product.

While this obviously provides less security than an exclusive tag, having to surrender two first-round picks on top of signing Henry will likely be a deterrent for many teams.

Henry and the Titans still have plenty of time to work on a long-term deal, as the deadline to do so is July 15.

Should no long-term deal get reached by then and Henry doesn’t agree to an offer with another team, he would be forced to play the 2020 season under the franchise tag.

From there, it remains to be seen if Henry would hold out or if he would go through with playing under the tag. Hopefully it doesn’t come down to that, though.
