Titans RB Derrick Henry makes PFWA All-AFC Team

Tennessee Titans impending free agent and running back Derrick Henry has received some recognition for his 2023 season.

The Pro Football Writers of America recently released their All-NFL, All-AFC and All-NFC teams and Henry was one of two running backs voted to the AFC squad, along with Miami Dolphins rusher Raheem Mostert.

The recognition is well-deserved. Henry tallied the second-most rushing yards in the NFL with 1,167, and his 12 rushing scores were tied for seventh-most.

While not exactly the eye-popping numbers we’ve been accustomed to over his career, Henry’s stats are made more impressive by the fact that he was running behind a terrible offensive line that absolutely impeded on his production.

But what’s past is past and now we’re looking to the future, which will likely see Henry playing for another team in 2024. He has said he won’t close the door on a return, but the Alabama product sure sounded like someone who doesn’t expect to be back when addressing fans after Week 18.

The star back has said winning a Super Bowl is paramount and the Titans won’t give him the best opportunity to do that. Not to mention, we don’t know if either side is even interested in keeping this relationship going.

If 2023 was his last season with the Titans, he went out in fitting fashion as the face of a franchise who had a standout season, at least by normal human standards.
