Titans RB Derrick Henry is ‘starting over’ in 2019

The 2018 season can be described in many different ways for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry — depending on which part you look at.

In the beginning, he played second fiddle to former New England Patriots rusher, Dion Lewis. Toward the end, he was able to record a record-breaking season filled with personal bests.

But the former Alabama rusher is intent on leaving last year in the past.

“Starting over,” he said to reporters during Thursday’s press conference. “I’m not worried about last year. Last year’s in the past. Got to start over. Building with this team in OTAs and the offseason and trying to get this thing going, but not really worried about last year. It’s in the past.”

Henry has chance to record yet another successful season, as the promotion of former tight ends coach Arthur Smith to offensive coordinator brings continuity — which should translate to Henry carrying his momentum into the coming season.

“I love Arthur,” he said of his new coordinator. “It’s been fun. I’ve known Arthur going on Year 4, so I’m excited and know he’s building team chemistry while we’re out here.”

Henry racked up 215 carries for 1,059 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

It will be interesting to see if he’s capable of topping that somehow in 2019 as the Titans look to become serious contenders in the postseason.
