Titans QB Ryan Tannehill’s supporting cast gets poor ranking

The Tennessee Titans locked down two very important players this offseason, placing a franchise tag on running back Derrick Henry and signing quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a four-year extension worth $118 million.

But outside of the star rusher, who does Tannehill have to give the ball to outside of him?

A.J. Brown is the standout among the Titans’ corps of wide receivers, but that still doesn’t do quite enough for Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, who ranked Tannehill’s supporting cast 24th in the NFL.

That’s ahead of the Seattle Seahawks, and behind the Houston Texans.

“The Titans’ offensive success will again largely hinge on Henry’s hard-charging style and Tannehill’s arm,” Knox wrote. “If Henry struggles or Tannehill takes a step back in the efficiency department—his 117.5 passer rating led the league last season—the rest of the supporting cast is unlikely to pull Tennessee back into the playoffs.”

Selecting a running back in the 2020 NFL Draft gave Tennessee some additional depth behind Henry.

“The addition of rookie Darrynton Evans gives the Titans some insurance behind Henry, although he’s effectively replacing Dion Lewis as the No. 2 back,” he wrote.

It will be interesting to see who steps up on offense this year, and to see how many of Tannehill’s targets turn out to be effective weapons when the Titans take the field again.
