Titans QB Ryan Tannehill has excelled against the blitz in 2019

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill may be playing his best season as an NFL starter ever, recording just one loss as the team’s starting signal-caller.

He’s been impressive in a number of categories, including against the blitz of opposing defenses.

ESPN placed Tannehill at No. 6 on a list based on the passer rating of quarterbacks on dropbacks with five or more pass rushers who are currently starting in the league.

Tannehill was directly ahead of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and behind Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees ranked first — and it wasn’t exactly close.

Sam Darnold, Kyler Murray, Mitchell Trubisky, Andy Dalton and Tom Brady ranked lowest.

Here’s a look at the complete list.

So far this season, Tannehill has completed 128-of-176 pass attempts for 1,602 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions, while posting an overall rating of 113.9.

The Titans also had one of their best performances against the division rival Indianapolis Colts in recent history, recording a 31-17 win in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Tannehill was 17-of-22 passing for 182 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

Tannehill and the Titans will look for continued success as they face the Oakland Raiders at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday in Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
