Titans QB Marcus Mariota receives harsh words from former QB Clint Stoerner

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota just can’t seem to catch a break this offseason.

With his injury history, a number of analysts are doubting him, and he’s been thrown under the bus yet again.

Former Arkansas and NFL quarterback Clint Stoerner of ESPN’s SEC Network recently gave a negative review – not that this analysis is even respectable enough to call it that – on Mariota as he was reviewing the Houston Texans’ 2019 schedule.

In his list, he claimed the signal-caller “scares no one.”

In a way, Stoerner does have somewhat of a point, although he may have wanted to rephrase it in a more socially correct and unbiased manner.

Mariota has struggled over late seasons with a lengthy injury history that allowed his backup to see action in eight games last year, and has never really been the vocal or bold type.

In 2018, he was 228-of-331 passes for 2,528 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

On a four-season career, he’s completed 1,015-of-1,605 passes for 12,004 yards with 69 touchdowns and 42 interceptions.

It’s also worth noting that Mariota’s touchdown-to-interception ratio is a bit alarming and will be an area that needs to be fixed moving forward, as it currently stands at roughly 1:1 over the past two seasons.

It will be up to Mariota to prove he’s up to snuff when the regular season kicks off later this year in the fall.
