Titans QB Marcus Mariota likes what he’s seen of receivers in OTAs

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has a solid supporting cast built around him as he enters the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.

And he likes what he has seen from his pass-catchers now roughly midway through OTAs, particularly from new additions Adam Humphries and A.J. Brown.

Both receivers are expected to perform well in the slot with a new team, but are so versatile they may be able to play other roles as well.

“I think being out here together and working, they look great,” Mariota said in a report by the team’s Jim Wyatt. “And as we continue to go forward, as we continue to build the chemistry, hopefully they’ll help our team out.”

Obviously, rookies like Brown face more of a learning curve than other players who already have at least one NFL season under their belts.

“I think everybody in that locker room who has gone through a rookie season understands how much it is, and how exhausting it can be,” Mariota said. “So we just have to do our best to help him out, make him feel comfortable, so that when he is out there he can just go play.”

Brown has been one of the team’s standout players over the course of offseason practices, reeling in a one-handed catch in one of his first showings to the media since going pro.

He was an impact player in college, recording 189 receptions for 2,984 yards and 19 touchdowns, also earning first-team All-SEC honors twice while at Ole Miss.

Training camp is set to begin late next month.
