Titans OL Dennis Kelly says OG Rodger Saffold ‘meshes really well’ with team

The Tennessee Titans made some solid additions in the first splash of the free agency period ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft.

One of these was offensive guard Rodger Saffold.

Since arriving in Nashville, Saffold has had the opportunity to spend time with the o-line he’ll be working with in the coming seasons — and it looks like he’s fitting in well already.

“I think he meshes really well with this group,” offensive tackle Dennis Kelly told team reporter Jim Wyatt on the Titans Caravan. “I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun to see him on the field and see us all working together.”

Saffold is expected to bring an instant upgrade to the interior a struggling Titans offensive line that allowed more sacks in 2018 (47) than it did in 2017 (35).

According to NFL Next Gen Stats in a report by ESPN’s Turron Davenport, Saffold ranked third among all guards in ESPN’s Pass Block Win Rate (min. 300 blocks) last season.

The 6-foot-5, 323-pounder also held his blocks for at least 2.5 seconds 87.4 percent of the time.

It will be interesting to see just how much of an impact he can make when  the Titans kick off the regular season in the fall.
