Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith apologizes for yelling at A.J. Brown

Training camp had hardly just begun when Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith yelled at rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown for not finishing a route.

Finish!” he exclaimed, per The Tennessean’s Erik Bacharach. “Stop (expletive) falling down and finish!

Well, that whole scenario didn’t exactly sit well with Smith’s wife. She gave him a bit of a talking to over his harsh words to an injured young hopeful.

After all, Brown did pull his hamstring on the drill and is just now getting back to full capacity.

But it’s clear there are no hard feelings between Brown and Smith, and there’s a sense of mutual respect between the pair.

“He apologized a couple of times. He felt bad for that one,” Brown told The Tennessean of Smith after his comments. “He’s a great guy and he was just apologizing, saying he said he didn’t know what happened.”

Smith went on to say that he “felt like a jerk,” prompting those profuse apologies.

The Titans will hope to get Brown back in action to make his NFL debut as soon as possible.

Tennessee faces its next preseason opponent in the New England Patriots on Saturday evening at Nissan Stadium.
