Titans ‘not closing the door’ on Randy Bullock reunion

One of the many cuts the Tennessee Titans made earlier this offseason was kicker Randy Bullock, who served as the starter the past two seasons.

While Bullock did provide much-needed stability at a position that gave the Titans fits before his arrival, his inability to make longer kicks became an issue and, with the opportunity to save $2 million this year, Tennessee ultimately decided to part ways.

However, Bullock’s days in Nashville may not be done.

Head coach Mike Vrabel not only revealed that the team is in the market for another kicker to compete with 2022 UDFA Caleb Shudak, which comes as zero surprise, he’s also leaving the door open for a reunion with Bullock.

“I would anticipate us adding another kicker,” Vrabes said, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. “I am not closing the door on bringing Randy (Bullock) back either. We have to provide some competition there and everywhere else.”

Tennessee’s need to bring in competition for Shudak, who has a bigger leg than Bullock, is obvious, as the Iowa product has almost zero experience outside of one game.

In that game, Shudak made three of his four field goal attempts, but he didn’t try one over 38 yards, thus not giving us a good look at his leg strength.

The best option available right now in free agency is veteran Robbie Gould, who would provide a locked-in starting option and the bigger leg Tennessee needs. The Titans could also look to the 2023 NFL draft for a kicker, with Michigan’s Jake Moody being my top preference.

If all else fails, the Titans could circle back to Bullock.
